Food and green buildings, Tombreck, Loch Tay

11/12/12     Spent the weekend up in Fortingall celebrating Robin Baker‘s birthday and staying at one of his projects, Bridge of Lyon, and also had a chance to drop in to see Sue Manning at Tombreck, at the foot of Ben Lawers. Really good to hear about the different private and public buildings they’ve built around the farm (such as houses from straw bale and Hempcrete, and the Big Shed, from Sitka spruce) not to mention their exciting plans for increasing food production over the coming season. The highlight was being shown around Katie’s house – the Manse – which has to be one of the nicest (and most difficult to capture well in a photo) small houses I’ve ever seen.

Woody Hayes Photography

11/12/12    Spent Saturday at a craft fair in St Andrews and was privileged to meet Woody Hayes, a photographer who has recently set up his own business. Although seemingly specialising in wedding photography, Woody’s website would suggest that he has even greater skills in macro and subject/landscape photography. The one above, for example, is flaking paint on a boat hull. Beautiful.
